연대의 메시지

우리 국제노점상연합(StreetNet Internatinoal)은 한국 정부의 노점탄압에 맞서 투쟁하고 있는
한국 노점상 동지들을 지지하고 있음을 알려드립니다.

우리는 또한 2007년 10월 12일에 가족의 생계를 부양해야 함에도 결국 비관자살을 한 이근재
동지의 가족들에게 의로의 인사를 드리고자 합니다. 우리는 한국 정부에게 이근재 동지와 같이
더욱더 많은 노점상 동지들을 죽음과 절망으로 내모는 (탄압) 정책 대신 제대로 된 고용(노점
허용 포함)을 확립할 수 있는 정책을 마련할 것을 요구합니다. 더불어 정부를 비롯 지자체들이
시급히 전국노점상총연합 및 그 외 비공식 노동자들의 민주적 조직들과 비공식 경제에 종사하고
있는 노동자들의 수입 및 생계 문제를 해결할 것을 촉구하는 바입니다.

MESSAGE OF SUPPORT

We hereby extend our support to the street vendors of Korea in the face of the crackdown by
the South Korean Government against street vendors.

We further extend our condolences to the family of Lee Geun-Jae, whose desperation forced
him to take his own life on the 12th October 2007.  We call on the Government of South
Korea to institute effective employment policies instead of the policies which are
resulting in more and more martyrs like Lee Geun-Jae.  We urge the Government, and the
municipal authorities, to engage the Korean Street Vendors'Confederation KOSC and other
democratic organisations of informal economy workers and put in place employment policies
which will secure the incomes and livelihoods of workers in the informal economy, as a
matter of urgency.
